Alabama History - 5 July 1819: Our first constitutional convention convened in Huntsville. Less than a month later, 44 delegates representing 22 counties adopted what was later known as the Constitution of 1819, the first of six Alabama constitutions.

Alabama History - 3 July 1815: Leaders in Clarke County named the city of Jackson after Andrew Jackson (he passed through during the Creek War with his troops in 1813). The city had originally been named Pine Level after the land company that platted out the new town. #Our67
